then enjoy the day ahead, fulfill our work assignments, and take advantage of important opportunities that arise. Paul tells us in Romans chapter 13: “And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.” (verses 11-14, NKJV)
If Paul had this urgency in the first century, how much more should we today? All we have to do is pick up a newspaper or visit a current-events’ website to see Bible prophecies fulfilled on a daily basis before our eyes!
If Paul felt it was high time to wake up, surely we must arise in our day, some 2000 years later. Let us awaken and be about our Father’s business, as Jesus was in His day. Let us take advantage of the opportunities for the furtherance of the gospel that Christ puts in our hands today. Let us live with excitement and expectancy at His soon return.
God’s alarm clock is buzzing. Do you hear it? Will you wake up?
